If a Pure Blood vampire bites you, but the infected blood pours out, will you still become a vampire?

I guess the title says it all. But I'd like to know this because I'm
in a Vampire Knight RP and I, somehow, want my human character to have
red eyes, and a good reason behind them. So any help with the reason
above? Or, can someone give me a better reason for a human to have
red, vampire eyes, but not be a vampire?
